Applying for FCRA registration

The application for FCRA registration is made using Formula FC-3. With the request, these documents should be provided: Self-certified copy of the registration certificate, trust document, etc., from the association. A self-certified copy of the relevant web pages from the Memorandum of Association or Article of Association indicates the group's purpose and objectives. Activity Report detailing the specifics of the activities that took place over the last three years Copies of the relevant audited statements of accounts from the last 3 years (assets and liabilities, receipts and payments, as well as income and expenditure) clearly display expenditures incurred in pursuit of the goals and objectives of the association as well as administrative expenses. When FCRA registration is granted, it's valid for five years. The application to renew FCRA registration is possible at least six months before the expiration date to ensure the registration is valid.

Charitable Trusts, Societies, Section 8 Companies that receive foreign contributions or donations from foreign sources must be registered under Section 6(1) of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act. The registration required by Section 6(1) of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 2010 is an FCRA registration. We will look at the process for getting FCRA approval in India.

Criteria And Eligibility to grant FCRA registration

When the FCRA application is submitted in the prescribed format, the following requirements must be examined before granting the registration:
The person or "entity" that submits an application to register or grants prior permission
It is not benami or fictitious.
Not been prosecuted or found guilty of engaging in actions aimed at converting via force or incitement, directly or indirectly, from one religion to another.
Not been charged or found guilty of causing communal tension or discord in any particular district or another area of the nation;
Not been accused of misuse or diversion of its funds.
Does not intend or is not likely to take part in the propagation of sedition or advocate methods of violence to achieve its goals;
Aren't likely to make use of the foreign contribution for personal gain or use it for unintentional reasons;
Has not violated any of the rules in this Act;
It is not banned from accepting foreign contributions.

A person who is an individual hasn't been found guilty under any law, and no legal action for any crime is in the process. A person who is not an individual or any of its officers or directors has not been found guilty under any law at the moment in force, nor has any case for any crime been filed against him. Affirmation of foreign contributions by the entity or person will not harm the outcome.

Eligibility to get FCRA registration

Organizations that seek foreign contributions to specific social, cultural, economic, educational, or religious programs can get FCRA authorization or get foreign contributions via the "prior permission" route. It is recommended that the FCRA applicants have the type of organization that is a trust, a society, or a Section 8 company. The non-profit organization must have operated for at least three years when making the FCRA application. It must receive foreign contributions before this, with government approval. Furthermore, the entity applying for registration must have spent at least Rs. 10,00,000 per annum over the last three years to achieve its objectives and goals, not including administrative expenses. Statements of income and expenses that have been audited by a chartered accountant for the last three years must be submitted to prove they meet the financial criteria. Suppose a newly registered company would like to be eligible for foreign funding. In that case, the Ministry of Home Issues may seek approval for a particular project, purpose, and source through the Earlier Authorization (PP) technique.

Login to the portal with this user ID and password.
You have an opportunity to select "I am applying for'. Select FCRA registration from the drop-down menu. Click Apply Online.
To complete registration, click here to proceed with a new registration.

It is necessary to register with the FCRA. Select the sign-up option. The link will be moved to the next page. Input all the required information and then click Save. An error message will be displayed on pressing save: "User ID successfully created. Your User ID is:

Login to FCRA.

Login to the portal with this user ID and password.
You can select Apply for FCRA Registration from the drop-down menu. Click Apply Online.
To register, 'click here to continue your registration.
Click the FC3 menu in the title bar for systematic registration.

Select Association Details from the menu. The details of the association appear. Fill in all the necessary information.

Click on the Submit button to save your data.

Renewal of FCRA Registration

After FCRA registration has been granted, it's valid for five years. A request for renewal of FCRA registration is possible at least six months before the end date to maintain the validity of the registration.
